Ice notebook

After the Slapshot exhibition, I needed to get back to the outdoor rinks. My gaze was different and needed to broaden. I photographed the boards, and the life around them, the trees, the buildings and their reflection in the water-covered ice in spring.

In the summer of 2023, as I stood in front of some of these photos, "ice skies" captured in the middle of the cold, forests had been burning for days and weeks in Quebec and Canada. What I saw before my eyes were "skies of fire", like the ones that were over our heads at the same time and that we'll remember for a long time to come. This series of skies is a tribute to the people who inhabited these forests before us, and who knew how to live in harmony with the Earth.
